Angels Of Patient Transport

Well here I am
Life is not easy when you are ninety-two
Lots of aches
My legs are painfully disobedient when I walk
My balance is little better than a drunken man’s
No more evening strolls
I’m marooned indoors
I cannot leave home unassisted
Which brings me to an important part of my narrative
Actually I have just returned from an outing
A visit to a doctor was the reason
So two transport angels knocked on my door
Each a caring young woman ready for her work
A stairway was the first challenge for Odysseus
Up he went, supported step by step
To prevent a fall
Then onto a stretcher
And skilfully loaded into the transport vehicle
He felt so secure during the road journey
And when skilfully disembarked
And taken via a lift to the doctor’s surgery
And the ultimate comfort of a wheelchair interview
Back they came on time
When the doctor had finished his diagnosis
Ulysses was gently and skilfully returned to his home
How can I thank these two beautiful people?
How can I reveal the power of their kindness?
I’ve got it!
I’ll write a poem about them

Negative Thinking

Listen to them
Those politicians rattling their sabres
No policies
No evidence to convince you
And support their point of view
Nothing but abusive rhetoric
Aimed at destruction of their opponents
“Liar” is their convincing word
More devastating than “a change of mind”
“Australia First” is a neat way to oppose immigrants
With strong racist undertones
No real evidence
No support for other than a white Australia policy
Do you recall the children overboard scandal of 2001?
Fake news
Deliberate propaganda about refugee morality
A tapping into existing racial prejudice
And there are always votes in it
Skin colour, ethnic origin or religion are weapons now
Skilfully used in the populist syndrome
First Nations people still suffer too from our invasion
And the tide is not turning
O yes
And big business seeks control
Absolute power
So it finances obedient lackeys
Who are not troubled by the negative ability to think

Climate Claptrap

So there we have it
The latest rightist policy on climate
Let us find an appropriate word
Stupidity, gibberish, blather, claptrap
Inanity, stupidity, folly, mischief
Any one of these will do
Why is this so?
Well first Net Zero is to be abandoned
Aha!
Now these halfwits’ mental status is improving
To the level of morons
Who cares about wildfire
The unstoppable fingers of fire
That seize all that you own and destroy it?
Even you may die
Who cares about relentless inundation
That sweeps away all that you own and destroys it?
Even you may die
Who cares about destroyed ecosystems
That bring extinction to vulnerable wildlife?
Even koalas may die
Who cares about sea level rising
That sweeps away sea side gardens?
Even coastal cities may die
All that matters is cheaper energy
And the budgets of vociferous industrial magnates
Especially the coal barons
Those greedy fools use the media for personal gain
Virulent voices rarely doing justice to the truth
But the solution beckons if we stand together
So let us close our ears and talk about the weather

A Sociopath Dreams Of Power

There she is
An obvious danger to mankind
Inspired by the dark side of the moon
Just listen to her
Pipe dreams flowing from her tongue like aged wine
Such nonsense
All sops for Cerberus her rich subsidiser
With bribes for voters who otherwise ignore her
She’s suddenly in favour with the masses
Note well her methodology
Chimera every time she speaks
She will fix the country and make you rich
Constant delusion
Climate science is humbug
Castles in the air
Trust me; you don’t need evidence
Quixotic promises
Drill baby drill to triumph
Now look at her sudden popularity
Why is this so?
It’s simple
Promise utopia without proof
With full details in the media and you win
Find an enemy too to condemn or ridicule
Such as immigrants
Please note their privation in the modern world
Another important foe is the ruling elite
Their victims need this female saviour’s help
And victory will be hers
Through a war against easy targets
She will use a constant sense of crisis
Social media will do the brainwashing
With an “us or them” motif
And so this charismatic fish out of water
Will save every other misfit from extinction

Liars Incorporated

Listen to them
Dissembling with such skill and precision
Fabricating illusions
That give that nonentity political importance
A yes-man to do their bidding
A paper president who grants their wishes
And what of their war
The most lucrative business of all?
Cast your eyes on the ruins
Rubble everywhere
Nothing spared with the devastation
Just imagine the balance sheet for this
A vast profitable panacea for the rich
For the military industrial complex
With more and more billionaires holding forth
It’s a golden age for tycoons, moguls or fat cats
As the fires of deception rage on
Tax free investment
Undue biased media ownership
Dangerous political influence
Ignored environmental dangers
Unfair health profit margins
Remunerative fossil fuel investments
There you have it
All consequences hidden or disguised by lies
You dissemble for profit
Fabricate for funds
Lead astray for pay
Deceive to receive
Perjure to nurture
Mislead to succeed
It’s all so simple; the deceiver is the receiver
And the wheels of government turn
As the plutocrats earn
